The Community Bread Basket is seeking the help of local residents this Thanksgiving and Christmas season. The nonprofit agency is asking the public to contribute $15 to help purchase items for its Holiday Food Baskets drive, including, but not limited to, turkeys, hams, boxed foods and canned goods. Residents and businesses can help by donating gift cards or dropping off a turkey to the agency, located at in the rear of the building at 3545 Pennsylvania Ave., P.O. Box 154 in Weirton. Members of the group Giving Ourselves Amazing Lives, made a donation to the organization, having its members raise $900 and adopting 60 turkeys for the cause. GOAL members meet at the Weirton Community Center, where their focus is on health and wellness, according to organizers. The coaching team includes of Deb Witkowski, Robin Cattrell and Jill Smith.
