Holiday thank you
Jefferson County Sheriff Fred Abdalla Jr. hosted his annual holiday luncheon for veterans on Thursday. Abdalla thanked all veterans for their sacrifice and dedication to America. He acknowledged their contributions to the county, saying he will continue to support all of the events and activities hosted for and by veterans groups and associations. LeAnn Gibbons, a representative from Wreaths Across America, advised those in attendance there will be hundreds of wreaths placed on veterans’ graves throughout local cemeteries Dec. 14. Anyone interested in purchasing a wreath can do so by e-mail at magibb67@gmail.com. The cost will be $17 each. Abdalla thanked Laborers Local 809 of Steubenville and their representatives, Molly Powell and Brian Palmer. He noted his appreciation for their contribution and support in making the holiday luncheon a success. Among those taking part in the event were, from left, Barry Bardone, adjutant for the Jefferson County Veterans Association; Palmer, Abdalla; Powell; Gibbons and Iris Bardone, JCVA supporter.
