Students at the Jefferson County Joint Vocational School are learning from experts in various fields, including those in the area of higher education and business and trades. During a Wednesday Workshop activity, students are hearing from representatives each week to prepare them for their futures. The school most recently hosted Matt Fuentes, training director with the Ohio Operating Engineers Apprenticeship Program Local No. 18 of Richfield. The Oct. 30 discussion focused on how to succeed as union members and apprentices. Those taking part in the workshop involved students in the welding, electrical trades, power mechanics and heavy equipment operation programs.
