Madonna to perform ‘A Christmas Carol’
WEIRTON — As Tiny Tim first put it, “God Bless us, everyone!”
Madonna High School officials said they are proud and excited to bring the timeless classic, “A Christmas Carol,” to the stage for one night only. The performance will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday in the Barrett gymnasium at the high school.
Produced as a live-acting radio drama from the ’30s, the audience will be taken on a time-traveling joyride on the coat-tails of ghosts and merriment. The one-hour show will immediately be followed by a Christmas party hosted by the cast and students.
“‘A Christmas Carol,’ is the greatest ghost story of all time,” officials stated. “We invite you to enjoy this timeless holiday tale like never before with this riveting radio play, complete with new songs.”
The production centers around a mysterious stranger, who on a chilly night’s eve, stops at an inn to warm himself by the fire. Promptly, he sets his imagination ablaze with a story of a miserly old man’s selfishness, greed, regret and redemption.
Officials said those attending are invited to join the cast and crew of the show for a Christmas party following the production. The party will be held in the cafeteria.
Refreshments, games, gifts and more will be among the activities planned.
