Register now for Dino Dash 5k Run/Walk
STEUBENVILLE — Registrations are being accepted for those interested in joining the annual Dean Martin Hometown Festival ‘s Dino Dash 5k Trail Run/Walk. This year’s event will take place June 14 at Historic Beatty Park.
Hosted by the Dean Martin Association, Steubenville Parks and Recreation and the Jefferson County General Health District, the event is being supported by the Friends of Beatty Park volunteer group.
According to the group’s founder and chair, Flora Ver-Straten Merrin, the race will be run on the Purple and Red nature trails.
The run/walk will include uphill areas, along with a short loop in the adjacent historical Union Cemetery, and encompasses the park’s wooded areas, consisting of dirt trails, small bridges, a creek crossing and small, natural obstacles.
Race day registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. The final day to register and be guaranteed a T-shirt, is June 1. To purchase a T-shirt only, the cost will be $15, with registration due June 2. Award categories will be determined based on the number of participants, VerStraten-Merrin noted, adding all Tot Trot participants, ages 3 through 6, will receive a medal. There is no charge for Tot Trot entrants.
The cost to sign up for either the 9 a.m. 5k Trail Run or the 5k Trail Walk will be $25. Registration ends at 9 a.m. June 2. To sign up for the run, complete an online form at runsignup.com/Race/OH/Steubenville/DinoDashBeattyPark5ktrailrunandwalk.
