Valentine’s treats

1 min read

The Jefferson County Humane Society, located at 200 Airport Road in Wintersville, is continuing its efforts to raise money for the nonprofit organization. The current fundraiser taking place is the annual Valentine's Days event, where donors can contribute $5 and specify which animals they would like to see receive a treat by the agency's staff and volunteers. Homemade peanut butter dog treats are available, as well as apples and carrots for the two horses that are being fostered and treated to get them back to health. The horses are lame and unable to walk due to problems with their hooves. To make a contribution to the humane society, call the shelter at (740) 314-5583 or visit its Facebook page. The nonprofit's goal is to raise $1,000, money that will be used toward covering some of the costs incurred for veterinary care and other programs. Distributing the treats at the shelter Friday morning was development manager Brandi DeNoon-Damewood.
