Irondale church to hold fish fry
IRONDALE — Irondale Christ Community Church will hold a fish fry from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday at the church, located on Grant Street.
The menu will consist of fried or baked fish, potatoes, hush puppies, cole slaw, green beans, dessert and a drink. The cost is through donation only, according to organizers of the event.
Attendees can dine in or carry out their orders.
Shriners to hold breakfast
WEIRTON — The Northern Panhandle Shrine Club will hold an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Shriners’ building, located at 1221 Rice Blvd. in Weirton.
The breakfast includes pancakes, scrambled eggs and sausage. Drinks include coffee, orange juice, hot tea and hot chocolate.
The cost of the meal will be $7 for adults and $4 for children ages 6 thorugh 12. Children under 6 can eat for free, officials said.
The event is open to the public and will be the final all-you-can-eat breakfast until October.
Cooking club to meet
WELLSBURG — The Recipe Club at the Brooke County Public Library will meet at noon on April 25 to share recipes and a sample of their cooking.

Christian mothers to hold card party
WEIRTON — St. Joseph the Worker Church Christian Mothers will hold a card party at 2 p.m. April 27 in the grade school’s gymnasium. Doors will open at 1 p.m.

GFWC-WV district meeting set
BETHANY — The General Federation of Women’s Clubs, West Virginia Northern District, will hold a spring workshop at 8 a.m. April 26 at Bethany Memorial Church.
Speakers will include Northern District President Michelle Beihl and a representative from A Child’s Place Court-Appointed Special Advocates.
The meeting will be hosted by the Bethany Woman’s Club.

Lions to hold fundraiser
WEIRTON — The Lions Club of Weirton will hold a Dancing through the Decades event from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. May 3 at T. Kosciusko Hall, located at 1801 Pennsylvania Ave. in Weirton.
Attendees will dance the night away by listening to the sounds of the ’50s, ’60s, ’70s and ’80s.
Keith Shreve will serve as disc jockey. A Chinese auction and 50/50 drawing is planned.
Tickets are $35 per person and includes appetizers and desserts, as well as three auction tickets.
Participants can attend in attire from their favorite decade and take part in a costume contest, officials stated.
Tickets can not be purchased at the door and are available by visiting the Sweet Temptation Pastry Shop, located at 3666 Lindberg Way in Weirton or the Top of West Virginia CVB at 243 Three Springs Drive.

Spring gospel meeting set
WEIRTON — The Weirton Heights Church of Christ will hold its spring gospel meeting May 4-8 at the church, located at 3169 Pennsylvania Ave. in Weirton.
A Sunday Bible class entitled “Unless the Lord Builds the House,” is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. May 4, followed by the 10:30 a.m. worship service “What Hinders You?” A 6:30 p.m. worship service will be entitled “Faith.”
The meetings will be held at 7 p.m. May 5-8. The speaker will be John Board.
Mechanical instrumental music will be held at the May 5 service. “John’s Purpose” will be discussed May 6, “The Lord is with You” will be the focus on May 7 and “Near to Thee” concludes the week on May 8.

Concealed carry class planned
NEW CUMBERLAND — A concealed carry class will take place at 9 a.m. May 18 at the Chester-Newell Sportsmen Club. The class will be taught by a National Rifle Association certified instructor.
The cost will be $75 cash, with participants asked to bring a defensive-type handgun, if possible, along with a minimum of 50 rounds of ammunition.
The course is good for Ohio and West Virginia, according to organizers.
West Virginia resident permits are reciprocal with Ohio and Pennsylvania.
The club is located at 131 Gas Valley Road in New Cumberland, past Oak Glen High School.

Tribute band to perform
JEWETT — The Fleetwood Mac Experience will return to Pennington’s May 10, with a dinner and show planned.
Tickets are on sale by visiting bit.ly/fleetwoodmactrib. Past performances by the tribute band have sold out each time, according to organizers, with all seats costing $29.99. Songs will include “Landslide,” “Go Your Own Way,” “The Chain” and “Dreams.” Pennington’s is located at 106 E. Main St. in Jewett.
