Painting unveiled

The Harrison Coal and Reclamation Historical Park held an unveiling of the Dave Barnhouse painting “Sunset Over the Spade,” on April 1. Commissioned by the group, the work “is a beautiful representation of the fascinating history of our area,” officials commented. Those with the historical park thanked Barnhouse, above, for his vision and the work he does, noting the artwork will hang in the Puskarich Library. “From the awe of a little boy and his father, to the twinkling lights of Cadiz on the far horizon, this work of art shows the excitement of a time that has been silenced forever,” officials said of the piece. The park will hold its annual dinner auction May 10 in Hopedale, where “Sunset Over the Spade” can be viewed. Print No. 4 will be available, with the proceeds going toward the commission of the painting. The work is signed with a certificate of authentication, officials noted. Print No. 5 will be auctioned to the highest bidder. For tickets or information, contact Amy Welch at (330) 401-9881.
