Reverse career fair

Indian Creek Middle School Sycamore Stars students showcased their creativity and hard work during a reverse career fair held at the school. Participants presented their culminating projects for VentureLab Career Exploration and Innovation to community members. Residents previously visited the school and discussed their careers with students. This time, those individuals returned for a reverse fair, judging the students on their chosen careers for the project. Those taking part included Steubenville Police Officer Jacob Mannarino, Goodwill Employment Specialists Alex Beaty and Nicole Ashmore, Steubenville JATC Electrical Union Training Director Rich Cesta and United Way of Jefferson County Executive Director Laura Rauch. Guests served as judges, evaluating each project, which included trifold displays that featured mottos, logos, business cards, job descriptions and oral pitches. Each winner received a trophy and $25 gift card for 7 Ranges Entertainment. Among the winners were Pyper Bell for most creative career and Faith Hatt for most remarkable pitch. The event was made possible through the collaboration of the community members, the VentureLab curriculum, ICMS Principal Holly Minch-Hick and instructors David and Paulette Woody. Sycamore Youth Center officials noted their pride in the students’ work, and thanked everyone who made the reverse career fair a success.
