Retired teachers hold first meeting of year

TORONTO -- The Jefferson County Retired Teachers met for the first time this year on May 13 at the Riverview Global Methodist Church in Toronto. There were 22 members present.
Treasurer Marge Andres presented a budget to members, which included losses for the last two years. A new budget was approved by the membership.
Michelle Fabbro accepted the historian position, while Ann Wiley will now serve as the new necrology chair.
Vice President Gina Judy introduced June Logan, the association's ORTA liaison.
Logan informed members Chad Smith and Michael Harkness will serve as newly- elected reform board members.
A 1.5 percent COLA will be forthcoming to those being retired for five years or more, officials announced.
Judy introduced guest speaker Ann Quillen, director of the Ohio Valley Health Center, who addressed those in attendance through a PowerPoint presentation.
Quillen explained what the center does to help people remain healthy without having to pay for treatments or medication.
Members noted the presenation was "very informative."
