Cadiz Women’s Golf League

The Cadiz Women’s Golf League held its opening day scramble May 7.

The winning scramble team included Tracy Amos, Marsha Porter, Kim Ochsenbine and Linda Tyson. The second-place team consisted of Brenda Hartley, Kathy Smith, Donita Rush and Cathy Jackson. The winner of closest to the flamingo in the right rough was Joanne Hardman.

The winner of closest to the flamingo in the left rough was Cathy Jackson.

The winner of closest to the line was Amos.

The longest putt winner was Marsha Porter.

Winners of the longest drive included Tracy Amos, A Flight; Hardman, B Flight; and Janet Backel, C Flight.

Following the scramble, members held a business meeting and enjoyed a taco buffet.

The Cadiz league then held its first round of golf for the regular season on Wednesday, with 22 women participating.

Hostesses were Linda Tyson and Tracy Amos.

The play of the day was Total Score Minus Putts. Winners of the event were Sherry Sapon, A Flight; Laura Froehlich, B Flight; and Denise Augustine, C Flight.

Putt winners were Amos, A Flight; Sandy Terek, B Flight; and Donita Rush, C Flight.

Sherry Sapon, Roberta Cireddu and Froehlich had birdies.

Judy Crawshaw and Rush had chip-ins.

Highland Springs Ladies Golf

The women of the Highland Springs Ladies Golf League played he back nine holes Monday.

The play of the day was “Throw Out Your Worst Two Holes.”

Winners were Yuko Atwell, first place; Tammy Koutsky, second place; and Neysa McCart, third place.

Skill prize winners were Brenda McCloskey, who had the long drive on hole No. 13, and Laura Froehlich, who was closest to the pin on her second shot at hole No. 14.

Froehlich birdied hole No. 10 as well.

The low-putt honor was shared by Froehlich and McCart.

Atwell recorded a chip-in on hole No. 13.

The nine-hole golf league is open to all women golfers. Play is held every Monday between May and September at the Highland Springs Golf Course in Wellsburg.

Tee-off begins at 5 p.m. Those interested in participating can call the clubhouse and sign up on the day of play by 3:30 p.m. at (304) 737-2201.
