Oak Glen to hold reunion
EAST LIVERPOOL — The Oak Glen High School Class of 1975 will hold its 50th class reunion Aug. 22-23.
A reunion golf event has been scheduled for Aug. 22 at the Turkana Golf Course in East Liverpool.

A casual ice breaker is planned for 7 p.m. Aug. 22 at the White Stallion sports bar in Chester.
The class’s reunion dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Holiday Inn in Weirton.

South Side reunion set
HOOKSTOWN, Pa. — Those who graduated from South Side High School in Hookstown, Pa., between 1957 and 1994 are invited to attend the first alumni reunion, set from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 20 at the Hookstown Grange Fairgrounds.
Spouses and significant others are invited to join classmates, organizers stated.
The cost will be $10 per attendee, with money due Thursday. The donation covers the cost of the rental, water and other necessities.

Each class is asked to have one classmate volunteer to help throughout the day. Food trucks will be on site from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Guests are permitted to bring food, snacks and non-alcoholic drinks to the event. Water will be provided. Tents are permitted, along with camp chairs and blankets.
Music will be provided during the evening.

Supply sponsorships sought
STEUBENVILLE — The Jefferson County Young Professionals, in partnership with the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County, will present its first Classrooms and Community event from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 18 at the Main Library, located at 407 S. Fourth St.
Students and teachers who are preparing for the upcoming school year, will be given school supplies through this event, according to officials.
Sponsorships are being sought, with all of the proceeds going toward the purchase of supplies.
Local organizations and businesses interested in contributing as a $250 sponsor will receive recognition across multiple platforms, including their logo featured on the event banner, social media shout-outs, a thank-you insert inside each supply bag listing all sponsors and recognition in an e-mail sent to the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce’s database.
Businesses interested in donating a specific item for the giveaway bags, are asked to provide 500 items for inclusion in students’ bags or 200 items for teachers’ bags, to ensure every bag is equal and consistent, organizers stated.

Corn Festival set for Aug. 10
WEIRTON — The Rev. Kyle Ashley, pastor of Christ United Methodist Church, announced the church will hold its 18th-annual Corn Festival from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 10.
The festival will take place at the church, located at 3598 Pennsylvania Ave. in Weirton.
This year’s menu will feature corn on the cob, pulled pork, baked beans, coleslaw and Texas sheet cake.
The cost at the door will be $12 for adult, $6 for children 6-12 and free for children under 6.
Guests will have the option of dining in or carrying out their meals. Attendees will have a chance to win auction baskets.
Corn will be available for purchase. Proceeds will help the church in its missions, according to officials.
Class of ’75 to hold reunion
STEUBENVILLE — The Steubenville High School Class of 1975 will hold its 50th class reunion Sept. 5-6.
An ice breaker will take place at 8 p.m. Sept. 5 at the Seven Ranges Entertainment Center, located inside the Fort Steuben Mall.
The reunion and dinner will be held Sept. 6 at Froehlich’s Classic Corner, located at 501 Washington St. in Steubenville.

Golf benefit set for Aug. 9
STEUBENVILLE — The eighth-annual Josh Merriman Foundation Golf Outing will be held Aug. 9 at the Steubenville Country Club.
Past events have drawn more than 50 two-player teams.
Two tee times will be available, with the first to begin in the morning, and the second to begin in the afternoon. To register or for information, call (740) 264-2923.
Proceeds will go toward scholarships for local high school graduates.
There were 16 students from 13 area schools who were this year’s recipients, officials stated.
Proceeds also will be used to provide talks at local schools on the issue of mental health and detering teen suicide.
A drawing will be held to win a hand-made Crown Royal quilt. Chances will cost $5 for one or six chances for $20.
