International Seniors meet
WEIRTON — Members of the International Senior Club met Tuesday at Undo’s restaurant in Weirton. Patty Coppa led the group in prayer and said a blessing, followed by Larry Purks leading in the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance. Members then sang “God Bless America,” before taking part in a buffet-style picnic.
President Regina Truax introduced the club’s newest member, Deana Starr.
No business meeting was held, although Truax reminded those in attendance of the club’s next meeting, scheduled for Aug. 12.
Truax announced Carol Wisnieski, a longtime member, will be leaving because she is moving from the area.
The following bus tours were announced: Rock and Roll Doo Wop No. 27, Capitol Theater, Wheeling, Oct. 4; Oglebay Festival of Lights, Wilson Lodge, Wheeling, Nov. 14; Christmas in New York City, New York, Nov. 17-20; and Motown Christmas, Capitol Theater, Wheeling, Dec. 13. Happy birthday was sung to those celebrating a birthday in July, including, Barbara Cerra, Tony LaRosa and Michael Runkle.
Barbara Purks announced she has not had to send out any get-well or sympathy cards. Liz Beecroft provided the joke of the day.
The 50/50 drawing was won by John “Bucky” Sims. Undo’s gift certificates were won by Coppa and Linda Aloi.
Members played a variety of bingo games, with winners including Joyce Dobbs, Barbara Cerra, Gabriel Arlia, Gene Viola, Cil Findley and Rose Pulice. Members played a numbers game in which 38 door prizes were awarded.
