WHEELING — The OVAC Queen of Queens pageant will take place at 7 p.m. today at the Capitol Theater in Wheeling.

The queen will be crowned during the 79th-annual Rudy Mumley OVAC All-Star Football Game Saturday. Tickets for the events are $10 for adults and $1 for students. Purchases can be made through links on the ovac.org website.

Girls from 19 OVAC schools will be competing for the title of Queen of Queens. They will be judged on their interview, talent and poise/presentation. The competition’s interview portion will take place prior to the start of the talent show, officials announced.

“The Queen of Queens candidates have been working hard since April to make these all-star events happen,” stated Joyce Jingle, Queen of Queens director. “Not only have they been working on honing their own talent, but they have been out in the community securing support from friends, families and area businesses. We want to thank everyone who has contributed in some way to make these events possible for our young people.”

“The week-long OVAC activities are a great way to cap off a high school career, whether it be on the field or on the stage,” Jingle added. “I hope these young people make great lasting memories.”

Candidates include Lydia Boyd of Buckeye Local, Lilly McElroy of Indian Creek, Olivia Snyder of Brooke, Juliana Tomshack of Madonna, Abigail Johnson of Barnesville, Avery Arno of Bellaire, Emily Butler of Cameron, Haley Miller of Hundred, Kendra Callahan of John Marshall, Jessica Lehrke of Linsly, Madalynn Painter of Martins Ferry, Allison Fletcher of Monroe Central, Kaylie McCloud of River, Valerie Boltz of Shadyside, Lola Anderson of St. Clairsville, Sloan Hanasky of Union Local, Faith Spann of Wellsville, Adisyn Gessler of Wheeling Park and Sophia Connors of Wheeling Central.

The game will begin at 7:15 p.m. Saturday at Wheeling Island Stadium.
