Wellsburg resident turns 102 years old

WEIRTON — Wellsburg resident Isabell Metzger celebrated her 102nd birthday July 6 at the Weirton Geriatric Center. A resident of Wellsburg since 1950, Metzger enjoyed the day alongside her family.

She was married to the late Willian Metzger for 67 years. She has three daughters: Carol (Bill) Lynn of Wellsburg, Mary Jane (Jim) McElroy of Follansbee and Barbara (Gene) Lauck of Center Township, Pa.

Metzger has four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Her two granddaughters include Lara (McElroy) Woodrum of St. Ablans, W Va.; and Jenifer (Lauck) Rodgers of Williamsport, Pa. Her two grandsons are Scott McElroy of Weirton and Brian Lauck of St. Ablans. Her great-grandchildren are Gillian Woodrum, Connor Rodgers, Ethan Rodgers and Maesie Rodgers.

Metzger retired as a secretary from the Wellsburg Eagle Manufacturing Co., following 19 years of service. She belonged to the First Presbyterian Church in Wellsburg, where she sang in the adult choir and played the bells in the bell choir. She belonged to the Hetty Elizabeth Beatty Questers of Steubenville and enjoyed playing piano, reading, cooking and being with family.
