Library to show ‘Drop’
WELLSBURG — The Follansbee Library will show the movie “Drop,” rated PG-13, at noon on Aug. 15. Those attending are permitted to bring a lunch. Popcorn and water will be provided.
The film is centered around a widowed mother named Violet, who works up the courage to go on her first date in years with a photographer named Henry. The couple’s chemistry is interrupted by a series of anonymous drops to Violet’s phone, which show a masked intruder entering her home and ordering her to follow a series of instructions. If she does not do exactly as told, her loved ones will die. Her unseen tormentor’s final directive? Kill Henry.

Children invited to library
WELLSBURG — Children are invited to visit the children’s room at the Brooke County Public Library to join in playing, building, socializing and learning together through a series of toys and games.
The activities will help to develop hand-eye coordination and STEM concepts, according to organizers. The event takes place from 10:30 a.m. to noon every Saturday.
Parents and guardians must provide direct supervision, officials noted, adding the program is not being led by staff. Although all ages are welcome to participate, the library recommends these activities for children ages birth to 6. Activities will be set up and torn down by volunteers.
Library officials stated in addition to children having fun, making friends and growing in their social skills, parents will have an opportunity to feel less alone when among their peers who are going through the earlier stages of parenthood, as well.
No registration is required to participate. For information, call (304) 737-1551.
