Indian Creek announces open houses, events
WINTERSVILLE — Indian Creek Local Schools will officially open its doors to a new school year on Aug. 20.
The first day of classes for students in fifth through 12th grades will see a full day of class sessions and bus service offered, according to officials.
Those in kindergarten through fourth grades will see their first day of school Aug. 25. Parents of these students will be contacted by their child’s teacher, prior to opening day to schedule a beginning-of-the-year assessment for their student.
Assessments will take approximately 30 minutes to complete and will take place Aug. 20-22.
All preschool children will begin classes Sept. 2 and follow a full-day schedule. Preschool parents will be contacted by the transportation superviser to inform them of the availability of school bus service.
Cafeteria service will be available in all four buildings on the first day of school.
Breakfast and lunch will be free for all enrolled students of Indian Creek Local School District every day of the 2025-26 school year, regardless of family income. There will be a charge for additional meals, extras and a la carte items a students wants to purchase, officials noted.
Hills Elementary School will hold an open house from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 19.
Cross Creek Elementary School will hold a Family Leadership Night open house from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 24.
An open house for all Indian Creek Middle School students in grades fifth through eighth will he held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday.
An orientation presentation for all fifth-graders and new students will begin at 5 p.m. Monday in the cafeteria. The transportation department will be available to answer any questions pertaining to bussing.
Freshmen and new student orientation at the high school will take place at 9 a.m. Friday in the auditorium.
High school sophomores, juniors and seniors can receive their schedules from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday in the office.
Students enrolling for the first time in any of the four schools are requested to register prior to opening day on any weekday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the principal’s office. Previous school records, immunization records and proof of birth are needed to register, officials said.
After-school care programs will begin the first day of classes on Aug. 20 at Indian Creek Middle School. Hours will be 2:45 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. in the library.
Before- and after-school care programs will begin at Hills and Cross Creek Elementary schools on Aug. 25.
The schedule for Hills will be 7 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. before school and 2:45 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. after school in the media center and library.
The schedule for Cross Creek will be 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. before school and 3:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. after school in the library and media center.
Costs to defray supply needs for the program are $2 daily before school and $5 daily for after school.
