WINTERSVILLE -- The Upper Ohio Valley Camera Club held its annual competition Sept. 16 at Two Ridges Presbyterian Church in Wintersville.
Judges included professional photographers Tamara Green, Amber Dawson, Michael Dawson and Brandi Birkhimer.
More than 350 photos were submitted to be judged in 16 categories.
Those placing in the area of abstract included: Michelle Stevens, first place; Sharon Slokan, second; and Sam Rees, third.
Top finishers focusing on architecture included: Sam Rees, first place; Barb Momyer, second place; and Karen Felix, third.
Black and white photo winners were: Dave Rees, first; John Hanish, second; and Dennis Jones, third.
Top finishers for the category of children included: Momyer, first place; Felix, second; and Stevens, third;
Closeup finishers were: Sue Adey, first; Hanish, second; and Matt Morrison, third.
The category of flowers and plants had the following winners: Hanish, first; Stevens, second; and Sam Rees, third.
Under the category of Night, first place was awarded to Momyer; Jones, second; and Hanish, third.
The open category finishers were: Adey, first; Jones, second; and Adey, third.
Top finishers in the category of People were: Adey, first; Hanish, second; and Dave Rees, third.
The category of Pets included top finishers Adey, first; Diane Bannister, second; and Felix, third.
Scenic category finishers included: Hanish, first place; Jones, second; and Momyer, third.
Special effects finishers were: Momyer, first; Adey, second; and Hanish, third.
In the category of Sports, top finishers included: Felix, first; Jenny Riegler, second; and Dave Rees, third.
The Still Life category winners included: Felix, first; Adey, second; and Bannister, third.
Winners of a sunrise or sunset photo included: Morrison, first; Momyer, second; and John Newlin, third.
The top finishers for Wildlife included: Jones, first; Hanish, second; and Sharon Slokan, third.
The best of show went to Adey.
The camera club will feature all of the winning pictures from the annual competition, as well as many other pictures, at an exhibit which will be open to the public from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Top of West Virginia Summit Gallery, located at 243 Three Springs Drive, Suite 17 in Weirton.
The exhibit will continue through Nov. 3 during Top of West Virginia business hours, which are 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
The Upper Ohio Valley Camera Club welcomes anyone who has an interest in photography.
All formats are welcomed -- medium, film, DSLR, mirrorless, smartphone, bridge, compact digital, 360 and instant.
The club's next meeting will be held on Oct. 21 at Two Ridges Presbyterian Church, located at 1085 Canton Road in Wintersville.
