Golf scramble set

FOLLANSBEE — The Follansbee Community House is a staple in the community, holding graduation parties, weddings, birthday parties and meetings for years.

But the time has come to rejuvenate the building and officials are in need of raising $30,000.

And it needs the community’s help. The community house committee is looking to replace its floor, ceiling and lights, as well fixing up the front doors and the roof.

A new stove and freezer are on the wish list as well.

The city of Follansbee will hold a golf scramble on Oct. 4 at the Highland Springs Golf Course.

Team registration is $300. Teams must be registered by Sept. 26. Registration includes a team of four people, carts, golfer gift bag, lunch on the course, non-alcoholic beverages and dinner.

Individuals can participate in the scramble, sponsor a hole or donate an item to be used as a prize at the event. Volunteers are also needed.

Officials noted they are pleased with the sponsorship response from area businesses so far and are looking for more teams to participate.

All of the proceeds raised will be used to benefit the Follansbee Community House.
