Library announces activities
STEUBENVILLE — The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County has announced its upcoming activities and events for the week of Sept. 14-20.

Adults: Books and Bites, a traveling book discussion, will meet at Harp and Habit in Franciscan Square at 5 p.m. on Sept. 15 to discuss the book “An Irish Country Doctor,” by Patrick Taylor. Get a 25 percent discount on Irish potato soup at the discussion when you show your library card. Call the Main Library to register and visit to borrow the book.
Children: Family Story Time will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 20. This hour of stories, songs and an activity, is for children ages 2-10.
Dillonvale-Mount Pleasant Branch (740) 314-4310
Adults: Alan Fitzpatrick will visit the library at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 16 to discuss “Captured by the Mingo: Two Faces.” In collaboration with Native American sources, this writing reveals — through the use of historical narrative — what happened to white captives taken by native warriors during the battle for control of the Ohio country in the latter half of the 18th century.
Book club will meet at 10 a.m. Sept. 16 to discuss “Looking Back,” by Belva Plain.
Children: Play and Learn the Alphabet, an activity for parents who have children between the ages of 2 and 4, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 18.
The leaves are falling. We will use them, along with shaving cream, to paint at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 18. Register for this fun program.

Children: Bring your children, ages 2 through 4, to the library to play with letter-learning toys. Play and Learn the Alphabet will be held at 5 p.m. on Sept. 18 and at 10 a.m. on Sept. 19.
Teens: Create Derpy the Tiger from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 15. Registration is required.

Adults: Gather for coffee, doughnuts and a movie at 10 a.m. Sept. 16. Call to find out what will be playing and reserve a seat.

Children: Pick up a grab-and-go autumn craft on Sept. 15, while supplies last.
Play and Learn the Alphabet will be held for parents who have children between the ages of birth to 4, introducing them to the library at an early age. The event will be held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 18.
Teens: Register to make a magnet for your locker at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 16. The activity is for those ages 10-18.
