WEIRTON — Members of the Three Score Senior Club were welcomed to the August dinner meeting by Vice President Kathy McCarrick, who led the meeting in the absence of President Frank Bohach.

The August gathering was decorated in a Hawaiian theme, with those in attendance dressing the part, including the wearing of leis. Winnie Kemp led the club in prayer, after which members recited the Pledge of Allegiance and sang “God Bless America.”

Following a sit-down dinner, McCarrick introduced the evening’s entertainment, the Uke’s, a group of Tri-State Area residents who play ukuleles. Musical selections corresponded with the club’s theme, “Hawaiian Luau,” including, “Surfing USA,” “Under the Boardwalk,” “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” “Don’t Worry Be Happy,” “My Little Runaway,” “Love Potion No. 9” and “Blame it on the Ukelele.”

In the absence of Secretary Barbara Purks, no minutes were read from the July meeting. Marlene Hare announced dinner reservations were made for 33 members.

Membership Chair Brenda Edwards welcomed Sue Sakara and Rita Wickham, who rejoined the club. It was announced that anyone wishing to join the club should contact a club member or Edwards at (304) 723-3931.

Kemp, in the role of Sunshine chair, informed those in attendance that get-well cards were sent to Mary Bohach, Mike Runkel and Mary Margaret Klepadlo.

Attendees sang happy birthday to those celebrating a birthday in August, including Joann Kerr and Rob Klepadlo. Happy anniversary was sung to members Bob and Jane Watson and Carl and Regina Traux.

September’s meeting will feature a Sports Night theme, with guest speaker Bob Kelley addressing members.

Prizes were won during the evening by Edwards, Sandy Briggs, Rob Klepadlo, Chuck Elliott, Jack Cassella, Kerr and Sakara. Following adjournment, the benediction was given by Kemp.
