Wells Township to hold Harvest Festival
BRILLIANT — A new event is coming to Brilliant Sept. 20-21.
The Friends of Harvest and Wells Township will hold a Harvest Festival, featuring entertainment, food, vendors and children’s’ activities. The event will begin at 9 a.m. on Sept. 20 with opening ceremonies at the Brilliant American Legion Post, located on Market Street. Additional attractions will follow on the the football field of the former Brilliant High School near 79 Hudson St.
There will be a baby harvest and costume contest for boys and girls, with winners named for several age groups, from 6 months to 3 years old.
Contest registration will take place from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sept. 20, with the contest beginning at noon. A $5 entry fee is required.
Opening day will feature the crowning of the festival king, queen, prince and princess at 11 a.m. Karaoke will be led by Dave Petreas between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Singer Dusty Carpenter will perform from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Local clowns Dum Dum and Dun Dun will appear after 1 p.m.
A petting zoo will be offered both days of the festival.
The schedule for Sept. 21 will include a car show, featuring all makes and models, as well as Jeeps. The show will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with registration running from 10 a.m. to noon. The cost will be $10 per entry, officials noted.
Disc jockey Bryan Dowdell will present the music from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., followed by the band Route 45 performing from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.
The festival will hold a scarecrow contest for anyone interested in taking part. School groups, local businesses and area residents are invited to participate in the contest. Entrants should submit their information by 3 p.m. on Monday.

The festival will coincide with a community yard sale and the 8 p.m. opening of the Wells Township Haunted House, located on Market Street. at 8 p.m. The yard sale and haunted house will be open both days of the festival.
