Woman’s Club collecting items for meeting
WINTERSVILLE — Members of the Wintersville Woman’s Club will meet at noon on Thursday at Sargus Hall for the group’s first meeting of the new year.
While the club usually meets at St. Florian Hall, the meeting had to be moved this month, with officials noting future meetings will take place at St. Florian.
When members and their guests arrive at Thursday’s meeting, they are being asked to bring along any travel-sized toiletry item or items for the women who are staying at the nonprofit ALIVE Shelter.
The donated items will be placed in bags which club members will put together during the October meeting.
Items which are being sought include: Toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, soap, body lotion, small tissue packs, shampoo, conditioner, lip balm, disinfecting wipes, tampons, sanitary pads or napkins, moisturizers, mouthwash, gum, small packages of crackers, hand sanitizer, socks or footies, Tylenol, Advil or headache medicine and washcloths.
Any items which are donated are of a great help and truly appreciated by those at the shelter, according to domestic violence chair Cathy Thoburn, who made the announcement.
In addition, anyone who has a new cosmetic bag and can donate it toward placing items inside, is asked to bring that to Thursday’s meting.
As far as feminine hygiene projects go, it is Thoburn’s understanding these items are placed in the restrooms at the shelter. Therefore, regular-sized boxes can be donated, as opposed to the travel-sized packages, she said.
Members who have any questions can contact any club officer for information.
The Wintersville Woman’s Club is open to women of all ages, with members able to join any time.
If interested, you can attend as a guest and get to know what the club does and what it has to offer as far as helping those throughout the community, prior to joining.
