STEUBENVILLE — The Steubenville Art Association and the Center of Music and Art are set to begin their new series entitled, Come Paint with Our Artists.

Two sessions have been planned for the remainder of the year, with each offered at the Center of Music and Art in Wintersville from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on a Saturday. The cost to attend is $25. These sessions differ from the usual Paint n’ Sip classes, according to SAA President Judy Schmidt.

She explained at least four SAA artists will be available to help each person attending the session. Plans have been made for all levels of art experience, as officials have created pre-drawn canvases for those hesitant to draw. Only the painting will need to be done.

There will be tracing patterns available for those who do not draw but want to design their own painting. Completed paintings can be reviewed and copied for those who feel they can reach this level, Schmidt said.

“Our artists are reaching out to anyone who would like to do their own art, regardless of their ability,” she stated.

Another difference in these sessions is the supplies needed for the project will be included in the $25 charge. This includes not only the canvases, paints and brushes, but many embellishments for those who like to get creative. Attendees will have access to rhinestones, ribbons, silk flowers, fall leaves and attachable items to make one’s painting stand out from the others.

The first Come Paint with Our Artists event is scheduled for Saturday. Participants can pay the $25 fee at the CMA desk using cash or credit card. During that time, they can review all of the options available in the art area and base their decision on what method they will use and discuss ideas with one of the SAA artists helping with the projects.

Guests will have a choice of painting a Thanksgiving turkey or doing a fall scene of pumpkins, fall flowers, leaves and corn husks.

“Our artists will help you design your picture to your liking,” Schmidt commented. “You will take your painting home with you at the end of the session.”

The second session will be held Nov. 1 and will feature painting Christmas penguins.

Again, canvases with penguins already drawn on them will be available to paint, along with penguin patterns to be traced, or an artist will help draw the penguins, should anyone need assistance.

Anyone not wanting to paint Christmas penguins can paint Christmas trees, ornaments, snowmen or other holiday objects to help make their picture stand out.

These events are for all levels of artists, from beginners to experts and offered to all ages throughout the community. With each session attended, participants gain additional art knowledge.

“We are here and willing to do this, but the final desision lies in the response from the public,” Schmidt noted. “So, if this is something you would like to do, come to these first two and show us your support for this program.”
