Chapter celebrates Alpha Delta Kappa Month

WEIRTON — West Virginia’s Alpha Tau Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa’s International Honorary Organization for Women Educators held its October meeting at the Swaney Memorial Library in New Cumberland.

President-Elect Michelle Lewis called the meeting to order.

A reading from the book “Walking in Grace” was given by Chaplain Kathy Griffith.

Secretary Mary Lou Martindill took roll call and distributed minutes to those in attendance.

Velda Icard gave the treasurer’s report and an update on scholarship fundraisers was reported by Lewis. Following committee reports, the group discussed ways to celebrate Alpha Delta Kappa Month, recognized every October. An invitation to the upcoming Ohio Valley District meeting was extended by Amy Hannahs, district chair and Alpha Tau immediate past president.

Susan Gracie and Rita Schmitt presented a Founder’s Day program that honored the four creators of the organization. Door prizes were awarded to Schmitt, Martindill, Tammy Fields, Hannahs and Michelle Bernardi.

The November meeting will include a paint n’ dip project. The meeting’s hostesses were Diane Bowers, Ginger Greene and Lewis.
