JVS implements Rotary Interact Club
BLOOMINGDALE — The Jefferson County Vocational is in the process of chartering a new organization known as the Rotary Interact Club.
The club’s purpose is for students to bolster leadership and community service, according to school officials.
JVS Superviser and Principal Heather Hoover will be acting as the club’s adviser, as well as career and workforce development coordinator Carina Aulicino.
The goal of incorporating the club is so students can connect with other high school Interact clubs, along with the Steubenville Rotary Club.
“Superintendent Ted Gorman and I want to bring the program to students here,” Hoover said. “We’ll come up with community service projects once we get established and the students will set up events.”
Applications will be accepted during the first week of November in order to build membership, she noted.
“We will be part of the Steubenville Rotary Club and we want to connect with other home schools with Rotary Interact clubs,” Hoover explained. “We will organize our own community events. These are traditional organizations in home schools and it’s something Mr. Gorman and I thought would be important to bring to the students here at the JVS.”
“We’re looking for ways to help students grow as leaders and community members,” Gorman commented. “The Interact Club is a great way for students to take pride in serving others and to see how their efforts can make a real difference in the community.”
