Library announces events

STEUBENVILLE — Officials with the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County announced upcoming activities planned at area branches during the week of Oct. 12-18. Those who are interested in participating in any of the projects or events are asked to register by calling the respective branch to ensure a seat will be available.

Main Library (740) 282-9782

Adults: The Friends of the Library will host a special auction event, Books and Bling, to benefit the library. The auction will take place from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Main Library. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres and champagne will be served, along with a chance to meet several local authors. Tickets are $15 per person or $25 per couple. Space is limited. To purchase tickets in advance, call the Main Library or visit Eventbrite.com.

The Mystery Book Club will discuss “Goodnight Beautiful,” by Aimee Molloy at 11 a.m. Oct. 13. Call to join the discussion.

Children: Family Story Time, featuring stories and activities, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 18 for families with children ages 2-10.

Tot Time will take place for parents who have children between the ages of 2 and 4 at 11 a.m. Oct. 14, Oct. 21 and Oct. 28. Tot Time will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 16, Oct. 23 and Oct. 30. Register in advance to attend.

Teens: Pick up a grab-and-go craft beginning Oct. 13, while supplies last. This bag contains supplies to make a ghost garland and is for teens ages 12 to 18.

Children: Register to attend Tot Time, an activity for parents who have children between the ages of 2 and 4 at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 13.

Story Time for children ages 5-10 will be held at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 13. Register to attend.

Children: Bring your child, ages 2-4, to Tot Time at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 14 for stories, songs and an art activity.

Children: Play with toys that promote alphabet knowledge at 5 p.m. on Oct. 16 and at 10 a.m. Oct. 17. Play and Learn the Alphabet is for parents who have children between the ages of 2 and 6.

Adults: Bring your project to Crochet Night at 6 p.m. Oct. 15. Work on your project in the company of others and enjoy a few snacks.

Adults: This month, book club will be reading “Then Tender Land,” by William Kent Krueger. We will discuss the book at 10 a.m. Oct. 14. Call to join.

Adults: Create a seasonal decoration when you transform found art by adding ghosts to the scene at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 14. Register to participate.

Children: Babygarten will be held for parents who have children ages birth to 2 at 11 a.m. Oct. 14. Register to attend.

Play and Learn will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 16. Children ages birth to 4 can play with toys that promote early literacy skills.
