Weirton’s Community Bread Basket thanked the parishioners at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church and the Greek Catholic Union for their donations in helping the nonprofit in its mission to feed people in need within Brooke and Hancock counties. St. Mary’s collected $650 — exceeding the Greek Catholic Union’s matching funds requirement of $500. St. Mary’s pastor, the Rev. Brian Norrell, is the food pantry’s treasurer. He celebrated his final Mass and has been reassigned to a parish in Pennsylvania. Following the Mass, Norrell presented the organization with checks from his parishioners to Community Bread Basket Administrator Jeanie Montgomery.
