Soup and sandwich sale today

BRILLIANT — The Brilliant United Methodist Church will hold its Election Day soup and sandwich sale from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the church, located at 525 LaBelle St. in Brilliant.

JCRTA to meet

WINTERSVILLE — Members of the Jefferson County Retired Teachers Association are scheduled to meet at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 18 at the Wintersville Methodist Church, located at the corner of Main Street and Fernwood Road in Wintersville.

The business meeting will begin the get-together, followed by lunch. Those planning on attending the luncheon are asked to make a reservation by no later than today by contacting Gina Judy. The cost is $15.

June Logan of ORTA will update members and install the officers for 2026-27 term during the meeting.

The Indian Creek Choir will perform. Attendees are asked to wear the colors of the school from which they taught.

The community service project for November is to help the Urban Mission fill stockings with personal hygiene items for teenagers.

All current teachers and retirees are encouraged to attend.

Democratic Women to meet

STEUBENVILLE — The Jefferson County Democratic Women will hold their next meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Schiappa Library, located on Mall Drive in Steubenville.

Come Paint with the Artists

WINTERSVILLE — The Steubenville Art Association will hold the second Come Paint with Our Artists events at the Center of Music and Art from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday.

The cost will be $25 per person and can be paid at the center using cash or credit card. Those planning to attend are asked to call the center at (740) 264-3111.

Participants will create a 16-by-20 inch painting of either Christmas penguins or a snowman, with the figures already drawn and ready to paint, unless attendees want to trace their own pattern, officials noted. Backgrounds can be designed, as desired.

The canvas, paints, brushes and embellishments will be provided. The public is asked to attend, as any artist at any level — from beginner to expert, is welcome.

Senior center to hold dance

WEIRTON — The Greater Weirton Senior Center will hold its next dance from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the center, located at 3425 Main St. All dances are open to the public, with everyone encouraged to attend.

The cost for singles is $10 or $15 for couples. Guests are asked to bring a covered dish to share. The center will provide the main dish and drinks, with dinner to be served at 7 p.m.

A 50/50 drawing will be held. Upcoming oldies’ dances will take place Nov. 20 and Dec. 4. Money generated from the event is used toward the purchase a new roof for the center.

Veterans Day luncheon, Thursday

STEUBENVILLE — A Veterans Day luncheon will be held to remember all who served at noon on Thursday at Hellenic Hall, located at 300 S. Fourth St. in Steubenville.

Church to hold rummage sale

WEIRTON — St. Thomas Episcopal Church, located at 300 Thomas Drive in Weirton, will hold an indoor rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. A bake sale will take place during the event.

Soup and sandwich sale set

SMITHFIELD — The Smithfield Historical Society will hold a soup, sandwich and dessert sale from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The building is located on Main Street in Smithfield.

Patrons can dine in or carry out their orders. Several types of homemade soup will be available, as well as hot chicken sandwiches, hot dogs or coney dogs.

A variety of desserts will be available.

Proceeds from the annual dinner will be used for building upkeep and community projects.

The historical museum will be open for viewing during the fundraiser or through visits arranged by contacting President Linda Kovach at (740) 733-8381.

Donations of town memorabilia are always welcome, Kovach noted.

Vendor show and bake sale set

WINTERSVILLE — The Blessed Sacrament Catholic Women’s Club will hold a vendor show and bake sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Sargus Hall, located behind Blessed Sacrament Church at 852 Main St. in Wintersville.

Club members will sell homemade soups, including wedding soup and tomato tortellini. The price will be $5 for a 10-ounce bowl or $10 for a 32-ounce quart. Homemade pastries and warm pretzels will be sold. Dine-in or carryout will be offered.

Several vendors will be on hand, offering a variety of items, such as hand-crafted gifts, wreaths, Tupperware, Mary Kay products, honey and freeze-dried treats.

The fundraiser will include a 50/50 drawing and Chinese auction. Vendors are still being accepted. Anyone interested can call (740) 317-4108.
