Yarn making its way to veterans
The criminal justice program at the Jefferson County Vocational School is collecting yarn for the Elkton Federal Correctional Facility where inmates create blankets for veterans. JVS instructor Jamie Freeman said bags, totes and boxes containing balls and spools of colorful wool are being collected and sent to Cheryl Mills, a volunteer who will transfer the items to the facility. Donations can be made through Dec. 1. Seniors taking part include, from left, front, Delaney O’Brien and Oktober Cope; and back, Paige Casto, Madison Herndon, Audrey Nutter, Darrell Dunbar and Brookelina Grigsby.
