Scouts collect for nonprofit

Scouts with Troop 334, chartered by the Cove Presbyterian Church in Weirton, presented a $1,000 check to Weirton’s Community Bread Basket on Monday evening. The nonprofit’s administrator, Jeanie Montgomery, accepted the donation. The Scouts conducted food drives known as “Scouting for Food,” a project done twice a year, according to officials. The drives are held prior to Thanksgiving and before the Easter holiday. Those taking part in collecting, below, included, from left, Brent Kerr, Joseph Mendel and Leyton Burket. Montgomery thanked everyone who donated to the Scouts on behalf of the organization, and thanked those in the troop for giving their time to collect all of the needed contributions. The items will be used to help families and individuals in need throughout the community.
