STEUBENVILLE — Mystery Theater Unlimited is continuing its landmark 30th season of original musical-comedy murder mysteries with the return of a holiday favorite: “Slay Ride Six: Santa’s Last Christmas.”

The production is subtitled “Just Be-Claus.”

Updated with a refreshed cast and new energy, the show brings cheer, music, mischief and a touch of murder to the Ohio Valley, with a performance set to take place at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 12 at Scaffidi’s Restaurant and Tavern.

Santa Claus, portrayed by Sean Decker, stuns his workshop by announcing he is finally ready to retire and will personally select his successor.

Santa’s long-time chief of staff, Elfish Prezley, played by Renee Storm, is convinced the job will be hers. However, it turns out she is not the only contender.

Joining the holiday power struggle are Mother Nature, played by Melody Meadows, the Tooth Fairy, played by Dustin Heavilin, along with the ever-hopeful Easter Bunny, played by Butch Maxwell.

As the competition heats up, someone ends up taking the ultimate chill — and the audience is left to help figure out whodunit.

True to Mystery Theater Unlimited’s style, the production mixes fast-paced comedy, musical parodies, audience interaction and a playful mystery. Selected audience members will be invited to participate in small roles.
