Chamber president looks back at year
STEUBENVILLE — As we ring in the New Year, Emily Byers, president of the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, finds herself filled with an “overwhelming sense of gratitude.”
Byers glanced back at the past year and provided her thoughts about filling the role as chamber president and what the year has meant for her.
“Looking back on 2025, it has been a year of significant transition and immense pride — not only for our chamber, but for me, personally, as I approach my one-year anniversary as chamber president,” Byers stated.
Byers stepped into the role knowing that this was a privilege she would not be taking lightly.
“I want to extend my deepest thank you to each of you,” she said. “Your warm welcome, your patience and your unwavering support throughout this past year has made it memorable. It is your passion for Jefferson County that fuels the work that we do every day.”
From the energy which is felt during the chamber’s monthly Coffee and Connections gatherings, to its monthly safety council meetings, Byers thanked chamber members for continuing to prove that Jefferson County thrives on collaboration.
There have been countless additional events and activities which have been hosted or co-hosted by chamber officials, Byers continued.
Among these events have been the annual Golf Classic, as well as the Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner.
And with every event comes more growth.
“We have experienced much growth this year,” Byers said.
She gave the example of the numerous new members who have been added to the chamber’s roster.
She noted the many ribbon-cutting events she and other officials have been proud to celebrate, bringing in new businesses in the area.
“However, our signature events and membership additions weren’t just about business,” Byers stated. “They were about celebrating the unique culture and the people who make the Ohio Valley a wonderful place to call home.”
“With the foundations of my first year firmly in place, I am more excited than ever for what is on the horizon,” she concluded.
“In 2026, we are committed to elevating the value of your membership through expanded resources, new initiatives and innovative events,” Byers said. “The success of the chamber is a direct reflection of the strength of its members. Thank you for taking this journey with me during my first year. I am honored to lead this organization and look forward to seeing all that we will accomplish together in the year ahead.”
