Black History Month concert set
ALIQUIPPA, Pa. — The Ebenezer African Mehodist Episcopal Church, located at 1015 Davis St. in Aliquippa, Pa., is inviting the Ohio Valley to take part in its upcoming Black History Month Musical Concert Celebration.
The event is scheduled to take place at 5 p.m. on Feb. 1.
Musical guests will include the Gospel Music Workshop of America Choir, Pittsburgh Chapter.
Officials are asking area residents to help spread the word for about this special service.
Turkey shoots coming to club
NEW CUMBERLAND — A benefit turkey shoot for Marine and National Guard Tyler Rawson will take place at 10 a.m. Jan. 31.
Regular turkey shoots will begin Feb. 8 and continue at 10 a.m. Sundays through April 12. Sign-ups begin at 9:30 a.m. The cost will be $3 per shot at the shoots, according to officials. It will be $5 for a money shoot. The cost is $30 for all nine shoots. A cover the dot shoot will award a first and second place.
The club is located at 592 Dairy Lane on Gas Valley Road behind Green Valley Dairy.
No shoot will be held Feb. 22 due to a 60-table gun show at the Hancock County Senior Center Feb. 21-22. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 21 and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 22.
Admission is $5. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Those 12 and younger get in free with an adult.
Free parking will be available and the kitchen will be open.
Register by Feb. 16. Tables are $25 each or $30 for late entries, per table.
Dealer setup will be 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 21 and 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Feb. 22.

Richmond to hold special meeting
RICHMOND — The Village of Richmond will hold a special meeting to review a resolution to proceed to place a 1-mil operational renewal levy on the spring ballot, along with supporting documentation.
The meeting is slated to begin at 7 p.m. on Monday at the city building, located at 37 W. Main St. in Richmond.
Richmond Council to meet
RICHMOND — Richmond Village Council will meet at 7 p.m. Feb. 16 at the city building, located at 37 W. Main St. in Richmond.
Council has passed an ordinance, effective Feb. 1, to meet on the third Monday of each month, rather than the first and third Mondays, as has been the case in the past. The meetings are open to public.
Roundtable to meet
WHEELING — The first meeting of the Ohio Valley Civil War Roundtable during its winter lecture series will take place at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 29 inside the Ohio County Public Library auditorium. The guest speaker will be Wayne Farley of St. Clairsville.
Farley will present an examination of the Civil War history of Western Virginia he obtained through his research. His presentation will include a personal collection of family letters that belonged to the William Johnson family of Bridgeport, West Virginia.
Farley, a retired retailer and pharmacist, has been a collector and researcher of West Virginia ephemeral and historical documents.
He is an officer for the United States Philatelic, the Civil War and Florida Postal societies; the Rich Mountain Battlefield and the OVCW.
Farley has authored articles for several historical publications and books. He has received gold and vermeil awards at several national and international shows, according to organizers. The lecture is free and open to the public. Those who are interested in joining the roundtable and would like a membership can pay the annual dues of $20, per family.
