Cross Creek Elementary School celebrated National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day Jan. 9. A special event titled “Gratitude in Action: Luncheon with Local Law Enforcement,” invited local law enforcement officers into the school. The guests shared a meal with students and staff. Among those taking part in the event was Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Darren Johnson of the Steubenville Post, who interacted with students Lily Dray, Lexi Proger and Leon Rasicci. The national observance was established in 2015 to recognize the hard work and sacrifices of law enforcement officers across the United States. The visit gave those at Cross Creek Elementary a positive opportunity to connect with safety officials, while recognizing the important role they play throughout the community.
