Smithfield to show support for Tucker

SMITHFIELD — In the heart of a community often defined by its willingness to stand together during times of trial, local residents are rallying to support Ronald Tucker following an unthinkable tragedy.

In the wake of a Jan. 3 house fire that claimed the lives of Tucker’s mother and two children, three separate benefits have been organized at the LeChateau Pier Ballroom to provide financial assistance and a sense of shared strength for the family.

The outreach efforts will begin on Saturday with a community breakfast. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the ballroom, located at 195 state Route 151 in Smithfield.

Those wishing to attend and show their support are asked for a donation of $15 or more. Organizers are still welcoming volunteers to lend a hand, as well as donations of food or monetary contributions to ensure the event’s success.

Anyone interested in assisting with this first benefit can contact Todd Piergallini at (740) 317-7255 or Chrissy Crawford at (740) 381-8018.

The momentum of support will continue the following week on Jan. 24, as the LeChateau Pier Ballroom plays host to a quarter auction.

Bidding is scheduled to begin at noon and will conclude at 3:30 p.m., offering attendees the chance to participate in the fast-paced fundraiser.

Food will be available for purchase throughout the afternoon.

Those interested in contributing items or services to the auction are encouraged to call (740) 632-8648 for information.

The month of giving will conclude with a chili dinner, slated for 3 p.m. on Jan. 31.

For a $5 donation, guests will receive a meal consisting of chili, a side dish and a beverage.

The afternoon promises more than just a warm meal, however, as the event will feature a Chinese auction and a highly-anticipated drawing in which the winner will have their choice of two firearms.

Tickets for the drawing are priced at $10 each.

As the Smithfield community prepares to turn out to show its support in helping a neighbor in need, anyone needing further details regarding the dinner or drawing can text (740) 219-5077.
