Summer sessions being offered
PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Public Theater is accepting registrations for this year’s summer sessions. From first-time storytellers to experienced actors, this season’s lineup is offering something for every creative mind.
Student camps and classes will be offered for children ages 6 through 17, according to officials.
Adult classes for those 18 and older will be held as well.
The following classes and camps will be offered for students: Auditioning for the student actor, a three-day course for those 15-17, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 16-18, $160; Shakespeare Remix: Classics with a Twist, ages 12-14, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 22-26, $285 or $360 with aftercare; Unleash Your Creativity: Write it, Act it, Own it, ages 12-14, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 29-July 3, $285 or $360 for aftercare; Shakespeare Shenanigans: Comedy, Chaos and Characters, ages 9-11, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 6-10, $285 or $360 for aftercare; Acting Techniques for Kids, ages 9-11, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 13-17, $285 or $460 for aftercare; and Once Upon a Stage: Fairy Tales Come to Life, ages 6-8, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 20-24, no cost specified.
With the exception of the three-day student actor course, all of the classes are offering an all-week aftercare available from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. for an additional $75 per student. These classes/camps will each culminate in a final showcase where friends and family are invited to share in the fun and creativity of the week, with the showcase to be held from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the final day of the class.
Adult classes will include: Acting 101, 9 a.m. to noon on June 27-28; Scene Study, 9 a.m. to noon on July 11-12; and Approaching Shakespeare, 9 a.m. to noon on July 18-19.
Enrollment for all Pittsburgh Public Theater summer sessions is now open by visiting PPT.org/Summer.
At least two weeks prior to the session’s start, participants will receive follow-up information through e-mail with details.
Restaurant to hold fundraiser
STEUBENVILLE — Texas Roadhouse will hold a public fundraiser today to support the American Tinnitus Association. Officials noted 100 percent of all profits will go to the organization.
Tinnitus, commonly referred to as ringing in the ears, affects more than 26 million adults in the United States.
The fundraiser is being held to honor the company’s late founder, Kent Taylor.
“For many years, Texas Roadhouse and Roadie Nation have been steadfast partners of the American Tinnitus Association, and we are deeply grateful for their continued support,” stated Patrick Lynch, CEO. “This partnership represents the very best of philanthropy, and I am personally thankful for their long-standing commitment to the tinnitus community. SOAR plans meeting
WEIRTON — SOAR will hold its quarterly meeting at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Mario’s restaurant in Weirton.
The afternoon’s meal will consist of pizza, salad and beverages.
Chamber to hold event
WINTERSVILLE — The Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce will hold its next Business After Hours event from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 25 at Valley Wine Cellar, located at 825 Main St. in Wintersville.
A speed networking activity will be held at the cost of $20 per person. This opportunity allows area professionals to rotate through quick introductions, maximizing connections in minimal time.
Tickets include appetizers, a drink ticket, a networking game, an event contact list and endless relationships. Participants are encouraged to bring their business cards.
