Legion to hold fish fry
WEIRTON — The American Legion Post 10 in Weirton will hold a fish fry from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the post, located at 3140 Pennsylvania Ave.
Among the items to be sold are Coleman’s fish, cod nuggets, crab cakes, shrimp, clams, french fries and egg rolls. The fundraiser is open to the public.
JVS to celebrate 50 years
BLOOMINGDALE — The Jefferson County Vocational School will celebrate its 50th anniversary from 3:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. Tuesday at the school, located at 1509 county Highway 22A in Bloomingdale.
The community, partners and supporters of the vocational school are invited to attend. A guided tour of the facility will be given and guests will be able to explore the career and technical programs offered to juniors and seniors in Jefferson and Harrison counties.
Local visits set for Ohio event

Ohio actor Peter Lawson Jones, who appeared with Tom Hanks in the movie “A Man Called Otto,” will speak at two separate screenings, one of which includes the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County’s Brilliant Library on March 12.
The Puskarich Public Library in Cadiz will screen the 1935 film “Mutiny on the Bounty,” on March 28. The local Clark Gable Foundation will provide the fun, including a period costume contest and trivia contest. The Clark Gable Museum will be open as well.
Ballet announces lineup
PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Ballet Theater announced its 2026-27 season, titled “Escape Into Wonder,” featuring four full-length story ballets and a mixed-repertoire program. The five-program season will run from October through May 2027.
“I am absolutely thrilled to invite Pittsburgh audiences to ‘Escape into Wonder’ with PBT for our magnificent 2026-27 season,” said Artistic Director Adam McKinney. “I know that audiences will love the diverse collection of works I have selected for next season. We will have everything from family-friendly fairytale ballets and beloved audience favorites to breathtaking world premieres.”
“Giselle” will be performed Oct. 23-25 at the Benedum Center; “The Nutcracker” will be performed Dec. 4-27 at the Benedum Center; “Alice in Wonderland” is set to be held Feb. 12-21; “Spring Mix World Premiers” will be performed April 9-11, 2027 at the August Wilson African American Cultural center; and “The Sleeping Beauty” will be performed May 7-9, 2027 at the Benedum Center.

Mah Jongg offered at library
WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Public Library is holding Mah Jongg Fridays for those who enjoy playing the game of tiles. Those who are looking for a group to play with or who would like to learn how to play can stop by the library to participate.
Play is held from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. every Friday. Attendees can bring a set of tiles if they have them, officials noted. Play and Connect at the library
WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Public Library is holding Play and Connect for children ages birth through 6 anytime between 10:30 a.m. and noon on Saturdays inside the Children’s Room of the library. All ages will be welcome.
Attendees will play, build, socialize and learn together using a variety of toys and games which help to develop hand-eye coordination and STEAM concepts, according to library officials.
Parents and guardians must provide direct supervision, as the program is not led by staff. Toys and games will be set up and torn down by a volunteer. No registration is required to attend.
