McNeil elected as 2026 potentate of Osiris Shrine Center

WHEELING — Bruce McNeil has been elected the 139th potentate of the Osiris Shrine Center in the Elm Grove section of Wheeling. McNeil resides in Bethlehem and has dedicated his life to service to his country and his community. A graduate of Wheeling Park High School, he joined the Navy, serving aboard the USS Wisconsin battleship, after which he began a 34-year career with the postal service. He served as a trustee, shop steward and vice president of the National Association of Letter Carriers, Branch 66, advocating for his fellow workers, retiring in 2024. Involved in community and civic organizations, McNeil is a member of the Elm Grove Lions Club, American Legion Post 1, USS Wisconsin Association, Cave Club, Iola Club, Snakes Club and the Elm Grove Eagles. In freemasonry, he belongs to Wheeling Masonic Lodge No. 5, the Scottish Rite Valley of Wheeling and El Tor Grotto.

McNeil became a Shriner in 2012, having served Osiris Shrine in many capacities, including temple aide and commander of the Legion of Honor for military veterans. He was a member of the Arab Patrol, Northern Panhandle Shrine Club and the Curmudgeon Cruisers. He completed all requirements of Shriners International in order to serve as potentate, attending numerous leadership conferences and training programs throughout the United States. The 2026 potentate motto “Proudly Serving Our Children,” reflects McNeil’s lifelong commitment to service through the Navy and the USPS. His message for the year emphasizes caring for the children entrusted to Shriners hospitals, while ensuring that Osiris Shrine remains a vital and visible presence in every community it represents — from Hancock County and the Eastern Panhandle down to Randolph County.

McNeil and his wife, Pam, will celebrate their 34th anniversary in August. They are parents to two children, Haley and Brennan (Donovan), who reside in New York City.
