Bookmobile stops scheduled
STEUBENVILLE — The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County Bookmobile will make scheduled stops at area locations this week. Stops include:
– Monday: Prime Time at Lovers Lane from 11 a.m. to noon, the North End Neighborhood from 2-3 p.m. and the South End Neighborhood from 3-4 p.m.
– Tuesday: Carriage Inn at 11 a.m., Heritage Village at 11:15 a.m., Meridian Greene at 12:15 p.m. and Dixon Health Care at 12:30 p.m.
– Wednesday: Home deliveries will begin at 8 a.m., followed by a stop at the Mingo Senior Center from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
– Thursday: The bookmobile will visit the Bloomingdale neighborhood at 814 Twp. Road 217 from 4:30-5:30 p.m.
– Friday: It will stop at St. Anthony’s Head Start from 1-2 p.m.
Franciscan University to host lecture on brotherhood
STEUBENVILLE — Franciscan University of Steubenville’s Institute for the Study of Man and Woman will host a public lecture titled “The Forgotten Icon: Brotherhood” at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Pope St. Paul VI Event Center in Christ the Teacher Hall.
Author and cultural commentator Dr. Anthony Esolen will present the talk online, with both in-person and virtual audiences able to participate. A live question-and-answer session will follow.
Esolen will discuss male brotherhood, its role in civilization and themes from his book “No Apologies: Why Civilization Depends on the Strength of Men.” The event is free and open to the public.
Weirton Traffic Commission meeting set
WEIRTON — The Weirton Traffic Commission will meet Wednesday in the council chambers of the city building. If court is still in session, the meeting will commence immediately afterward.
Brooke County libraries to host book club, crocheting club and film screening
WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Public Library and Follansbee Library will host a series of events in April, including a film screening, book club discussion and crocheting group.
The Follansbee Library will show the movie “Regretting You” (PG-13) at noon Friday. The film centers on the strained relationship between young mother Morgan Grant and her teenage daughter Clara following the death of Clara’s father, Chris. The Brooke County Public Library Crocheting Club will meet at noon Wednesday in the River Room of the library. The group is open to adult beginners through experts. Participants are asked to bring their own supplies and projects, with assistance available for those who need help. The library’s book club will meet April 30 at 5 p.m. in person and virtually to discuss “None of This Is True” by Lisa Jewell. The meeting is free and open to the public, and participants may contact the library for the virtual meeting ID and password. The May book will be distributed at the meeting. Copies are available.
Weir High Class of 1967 to meet
WEIRTON — The Weir High School Class of 1967 will hold its monthly luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Primanti Bros. Restaurant, 255 St. Thomas Drive. Classmates and spouses are encouraged to attend.
Developmental disabilities board to meet
STEUBENVILLE — The Jefferson County Board of Developmental Disabilities will meet at 4:15 p.m. Thursday in the conference room at the administrative offices, 250 John Scott Highway. To participate, call the board offices at (740) 264-5812 before Thursday so arrangements can be made to accommodate.

STEUBENVILLE — The Steel Valley Regional Transit Authority will hold its regular board meeting at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the Robert J. Cutri Modal Center.
Library announces new fiction releases
STEUBENVILLE — The Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County has announced new fiction titles available to patrons.
“Life: A Love Story” by Elizabeth Berg follows 92-year-old Florence “Flo” Green as she nears the end of her life and writes a letter to her former neighbor Ruthie, reflecting on the meaning behind small keepsakes and the stories they hold.
“The House of Hidden Letters” by Izzy Broom tells the story of Skye MacKinnon, who wins the chance to buy a one-euro cottage on a Greek island and uncovers a mystery involving letters tied to the island’s World War II history.
“Daughter of Egypt” by Marie Benedict follows Lady Evelyn Herbert, daughter of Lord Carnarvon, and her connection to the discovery of King Tutankhamun’s tomb, alongside the historical legacy of Egyptian pharaoh Hatshepsut.
“Bad Seeds” by Mary Monroe centers on a businesswoman who turns to a darker path after betrayal by her romantic partner and best friend.
