Roundtable looks at PTSD and Civil War soldiers
WHEELING — Jeanne Cox will be the guest speaker at the Ohio Valley Civil War Roundtable meeting set for 6:30 p.m. May 27 in the auditorium at the Ohio County Public Library.
As a retired nurse practitioner, Cox’s interest in Civil War history and the medical treatment of Civil War soldiers began more than 20 years ago. The focus of her recent research is the mental wounds suffered by Civil War veterans’ battle experiences. During the 1860s medical officials’ evaluations of soldiers did not acknowledge mental illness issues as battle wounds.
Her presentation is open to the public.
