Dinner set for Saturday

BLOOMINGDALE — A baked steak dinner will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Wayne Township Community Center.

The menu will include salad, steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, dessert and a drink.

The cost is $15, and proceeds will benefit upkeep at the center.

Irondale Singspiration set

IRONDALE — The Irondale Christ Community Church will hold a Singspiration at 6 p.m. Sunday.

All are welcome, organizers said.

Fort to host pre-history lecture

STEUBENVILLE — Historic Fort Steuben will continue its America 250 lecture series on Wednesday, with a presentation by John Boilegh titled “Pre-History of the Ohio Valley.” The program will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Fort Steuben Visitor Center, located at 120 S. Third Street in Steubenville.

Boilegh’s presentation will explore the earliest peoples and cultures that inhabited the Ohio Valley long before recorded history, examining archaeological discoveries, ancient settlements and the development of Native cultures throughout the region. The lecture is designed to provide an engaging look at the rich and fascinating history of the Ohio Valley prior to European settlement.

The event is free and open to the public. Organizers encourage anyone interested in local history, archaeology and the early cultures of the Ohio Valley to attend. Information is available by calling (740) 283-1787 or by visiting oldfortsteuben.com.

Developmental disabilities board to meet

STEUBENVILLE — The Jefferson County Board of Developmental Disabilities will meet in regular session at 4:15 p.m. May 21.

The meeting will be held in the conference room at the administrative offices, 250 John Scott Highway.

To participate, call the board offices at (740) 264-5812 prior to the meeting date so arrangements can be made.

Summer food program offered

STEUBENVILLE — Steubenville City Schools again will be offering free breakfasts and lunches for children Monday through Friday at the following sites: Harding Middle School, 2002 Sunset Blvd., from 7:40 a.m. to 9:40 a.m. and 10 a.m. to noon from June 1 through Aug. 7; and Steubenville High School, 420 N. Fourth St., from 7:40 a.m. to 9:40 a.m. and 10 a.m. to noon June 1 through 19.

Weir High Class of ’67 to meet

WEIRTON — The Weir High School Class of 1967 will hold its monthly luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Theo Yianni’s, 322 American Way.

All classmates and spouses are welcome.

JVS board meeting set for May 19

BLOOMINGDALE — The Jefferson County Joint Vocational School District Board of Education will hold its regular meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, in the boardroom at Jefferson County Joint Vocational School District, 1509 County Highway 22A.
