Barnette Named to Cedarville Dean’s List

CEDARVILLE — Liam Barnette of Toronto was named to the Dean’s List at Cedarville University for spring 2026.

To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must earn a 3.50 GPA or higher for the semester and complete a minimum of 12 credit hours.

Steubenville street resurfacing Program set to begin

STEUBENVILLE — The city will begin its 2026 Community Development Block Grant Street Resurfacing Improvement Program , Monday, at 7 a.m. , weather permitting.

The work will include removal of existing asphalt using a cold milling process and placement of a hot-mix asphalt intermediate leveling course, followed by a final surface at a later date.

Streets included in the project are Acme Street from North Seventh Street to North Eighth Street; North Eighth Street from Franklin Avenue to its south terminus; Franklin Avenue from North Seventh Street to Highland Avenue; Greenfield Avenue from Arden Avenue to Woodland Avenue; Woodland Avenue from Greenfield Avenue to Alton Avenue; and Alton Avenue from Woodland Avenue to Lincoln Boulevard.

A “no parking” notice will be posted at least one day in advance. Vehicles left on the street may be towed at the owner’s expense.

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes. The project is contracted to NLS Paving Inc. of St. Clairsville and is funded through the Community Development Block Grant program from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Brooke health board to meet

WELLSBURG — The Brooke County Board of Health will meet at 7 p.m. Monday.

The meeting will be held on the third floor of the Brooke County Courthouse.

Church Women United meet

WEIRTON — Church Women United, Weirton Chapter, held its Friendship Day May 1at Oakland Presbyterian Church.

There were 15 members and two guests who participated. Lighthouse in Weirton accepted personal care products donated by the CWU members for women staying there.

A luncheon provided by Oakland church women was served after the meeting.

There will be no Church Women United meetings in June or July.
