Jefferson County groups receive grants
JEFFERSON COUNTY — Two Jefferson County nonprofit organizations have received grants through the Dale Hileman Legacy Fund and the Donald R. Myers Legacy Fund to Support Partnership in Appalachian Ohio.
The United Way of Jefferson County was awarded a $750 grant from the Dale Hileman Legacy Fund. The funding will support the organization’s Community Stability and Opportunity Initiative, which helps ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) households stay housed, fed and connected to essential services.
“These grants reflect Dale’s commitment to the people and communities of eastern Ohio and his belief that strong communities are built through opportunity,” said Cindi McClung, executive director of the Eastern Ohio Development Alliance.
The Dale Hileman Legacy Fund, established at the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio with support from the Eastern Ohio Development Alliance, supports economic development and growth in Appalachian Ohio and organizations within the EODA service area.
The Ohio Valley Youth Network also received a $1,000 grant through the Donald R. Myers Legacy Fund. The funding will support the Sycamore Young Chefs: Life Skills and Food Security Initiative, a year-round after-school cooking and mentoring program serving Jefferson County students in grades 1-12.
