Sunrise Seniors Welcome New Member, Plan Upcoming Events
TORONTO — The Toronto Sunrise Seniors welcomed new member Marcella Miller and guest Ed Sheets during its April 24 meeting at the Karaffa Recreation Center.
Co-chaplain Gloria Boley gave the blessing, and President Barbara Pritts led the Pledge of Allegiance and thanked the kitchen committee and volunteers.
Officials provided reports, including a financial update filed for audit and announcements on upcoming social events, including a July 10 summer picnic.
Vice President Sandi Radvansky said the bus trip for “Legally Blonde” on June 28 is full and reviewed plans for a May 8 Mother-Father Banquet featuring storytelling, a catered meal and required reservations.
The group also approved purchasing geraniums from the Toronto Beautification Committee for planting at Door No. 4.
Brenda Fetty was named member of the month. Members also participated in games, bingo and drawings, with several winners announced.
The next meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. May 8 in the Commons Area.
Board of Prevention and Recovery Schedules May Meeting
STEUBENVILLE — The Jefferson County Prevention and Recovery Board will hold a public board meeting at 524 Madison Ave. on Monday, May 18, 2026.
Ice cream event in Bergholz
BERGHOLZ — This Memorial Day weekend, Bergholz residents should think ice cream social.
Bergholz Community Foundation’s Christy Kemmer says Dairy Jean Ice Cream truck will be in the village May 24 “to sell their goodies.” The truck will set up at 144 1st St. from noon to 3 p.m.
“It’s just a community event,” said Kemmer, who serves as secretary and one of the foundation’s nine trustees. “Bergholz is trying to have events — we’re trying to bring people together, improve our village.”
Bergholz Community Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization.
Fire district to meet
WINTERSVILLE — The Seven Ranges Joint Fire District will have its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Jefferson County 911 Buildilng, 300 Airport Road.
Dry Fork Road to close for culvert replacements
STEUBENVILLE — The Jefferson County Engineer’s Department announced County Road 8, also known as Dry Fork Road, will be closed from State Route 152 to Township Road 118 (Kings Road) from Tuesday, May 12, through Thursday, May 14, for culvert replacements. The closure will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily, with no through traffic permitted.
Airport Authority to hold regular meeting
WINTERSVILLE — The Jefferson County Regional Airport Authority will meet in regular session at 3 p.m, Monday, in the Gary R. Folden Conference Room inside the terminal building at Jefferson County Airpark.
Amsterdam Area Foundation Plans Community Gathering
AMSTERDAM — The Amsterdam Area Foundation will host a community gathering from noon to 2 p.m., May 23, at Rogers Park. Residents are invited to meet members of the foundation and enjoy free hot dogs and drinks.
