Police reports

STEUBENVILLE POLICE

Arrest made in shots fired, chase: A man who allegedly fired multiple shots in the 200 block of S. 5th Street, then led Steubenville police on a high-speed chase a month ago that ended in Washington, Pa., was booked into the Jefferson County Jail Tuesday. Police said Rashad J. Grigsby, 27, of Washington, Pa. was with arrest warrants charging him with improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle and discharging a firearm in city limits, along with probation violation. Grigsby had been taken into custody in Washington.

Lock out: A woman in the 1100 block of Arlington Avenue said Thursday she and her boyfriend had argued earlier in the day and “he pulled her out of the house by her hoodie and told her that she couldn’t return.” She told police she lives there and when she came back to grab her work scrubs, car key and car seat they’d argued again. Police told her they’d stand by while she got her things but when they knocked, the kids said “they wouldn’t open the door and (their father) wouldn’t speak with (them).” She grabbed her housekey and went inside, upsetting the male who advised “he didn’t want her there and she was not on the lease” but police told them she had established residency and he’d have to evict her through the courts if he wants her out.

Bottled up: A Maxwell Avenue resident said things got a little physical Thursday after she refused to let her son and daughter into her home because she was worried “problems would occur based on the company she had at the time.” She said her daughter removed a window panel and forced her way in and an argument ensued. She said her son pushed her “and things got physical,” but stopped talking when police asked her who the aggressor had been and then told them she no longer wished to cooperate. Her kids had already left the property. Police said the daughter wouldn’t be charged because she had lived there.

Second thoughts: A woman in the 700 block of Oakmont Avenue said a male there was causing a disturbance Thursday, but when police got she ‘was screaming,” told them he “knocked over her motorcycles” but refused to tell them anything else. She went back in her residence and would not come back out and the man, who she’d identified, had already gone.

Pocket change: A Market Street resident said she inadvertently left $75 in one of her pockets when she loaded two loads of laundry into washing machines in her building Thursday and by the time she realized her mistake and went back to get it one load was dry, one was wet and her money was gone.

Regretting it: A Lovers Lane resident said Thursday she let a friend from Arizona stay with her a few weeks and after she left, discovered she’d taken some of her things with her. She thinks the woman stole the items before returning to Arizona, and said when she called the former friend and her boyfriend to inquire about her things they hung up on her.

Last day hijinks: A woman in the 400 block of Wilson Place several children at a nearby residence were “being loud and screaming and yelling at one another” Thursday. Police spoke with the mother of the children causing the ruckus, who told them her kids “just finished school and were a little rowdy.”

Injured: A possible overdose had been reported Thursday at a Ravine Street location but police said it appeared more likely that the victim had “fallen down the stairs and concussed himself.” When they arrived police said he was “unresponsive at the bottom of the stairs, bleeding from the back of (his) head.” There was no drug paraphernalia at the scene and police said friends told them they hadn’t known him to use. He was transported to Trinity West for treatment of his injuries.

Concerned resident: No evidence shots had been fired was located Thursday after a caller in the 1600 block of Moreland Avenue reported hearing noises that sounded like a gun firing.

Booked: A Toronto man is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop on Washington Street Hill Thursday. Wade Manns, 32, 709 Grant St., was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, tampering with evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia, a loaded needle, after police allegedly found the contraband in his possession when they pulled the car he was in over for a loud exhaust. Manns also was served with a warrant for failure to appear (Toronto County Court).

Served: Heather L. Gordon, 52, St. Clairsville, warrant for probation violation; Ashley M. Aguilera, 35, 5 Maplewood Dr., Steubenville, bench warrant (Municipal Court).

Code issues: Notices of violation were sent to owners/occupants of properties at 1611 Ridge Ave., 1623 Ridge Ave., 1400 Maryland Ave., 1441 Oregon Ave., 1506 Oregon Ave., all high grass.
