WELLSBURG — The historic Brooke Hills Playhouse will kick off its 55th anniversary season with the hilarious, heart-filled Southern comedy, “The Second-to-Last Chance Ladies League,” presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Dramatists Play Service.
Written by the masters of Southern comedy — Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Jamie Wooten — and under the direction of Bill Deerfield, this sequel to “Always a Bridesmaid” catches up with four lifelong friends: Libby Ruth (Heather Deerfield), Deedra (Sheila Cavalette), Monette (Emily Hores), and Charlie (Teresa Torlone).
When the women trade in their bridesmaid dresses to rescue their favorite local wedding venue, they are plunged into a year of hilarious, high-stakes event planning, wacky memorial services, and everything in between.
Performances are scheduled for June 5-7; June 12-14; and June 19-21.
All standard evening performances on Fridays and Saturdays begin at 8 p.m., with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.
Tickets are on sale, and can be purchased either online at www.brookehillsplayhouse.org or by calling the box office at (304) 737-3344. Season Flex Passes also are available.
