JVS programs available for students

BLOOMINGDALE – Space is still available for high school students looking for career options at the Jefferson County Joint Vocational School.

Principal/Supervisor Heather Hoover said openings remained in select programs and space was limited, but students still have an opportunity to apply. The JVS offers 18 career-technical education (CTE) programs, including animal science management, auto collision, auto service technology, carpentry, computer networking technologies, cosmetology, criminal justice, culinary arts, early childhood education, electrical trades, health technologies, heavy equipment operation, multimedia and design, power mechanics, Transition To Work, welding, and the HVACR and Firefighter/EMT courses coming this fall.

“At the JVS, students don’t just learn about careers; they experience them,” Hoover said. “Students graduate with more than just their diplomas. They receive certifications, work-based learning experience, and opportunities for their future.”

Incoming students who have already been accepted will receive welcome packets as officials plan for the 2026-2027 school term. Currently, about 242 new pupils have enrolled in the program with more than 400 juniors and seniors anticipated overall.

“Prospective students and their families also have an opportunity for school tours and visits,” she commented.

Hoover said applications are available on the school website at www.jeffjvs.org and anyone seeking more information may contact the site at (740) 264-5545. The JVS is presently operating on summer hours from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is closed on holidays.
