Police Reports

STEUBENVILLE POLICE

No problem: A Pittsburgh Street resident said her neighbor “was drunk and her kids were outside yelling that they were hungry” Friday. Police said the mom was actually on the porch with two of her kids and appeared capable of carrying for her children, and all appeared happy and health.

Stay away: A city resident told police Friday her child’s father is harassing and threatening her. She said she hadn’t spoken to him in a month and has him blocked on social media due to past domestic violence issues, but his mother dropped him off at her residence. She said the front door was open and he was standing on the porch not saying anything, so when when she turned around she was startled to find him watching her and said he “began to verbally accost her and make threats.” When she tried to shut the door he stuck his foot in the door jam and “then flinched at her in a violent manner,” then her mother confronted him and told him she was calling the police. He kicked and punched the door while his mother tried to get him back in her car. The caller didn’t want to pursue charges but wants him to stop coming around and asked police to trespass him from the property.

Be gone, buddy: A city resident said her ex came to her house Friday and spray-painted the camera above her door, cut the wire to it on the other side of the porch, stole a camera and then spray painted “I’ll be back” on her house. He also left a voice mail telling her he’d “left a surprise for her” and the next time he will be coming through the window.

Double-dipping: Employees at Walmart stopped a woman who allegedly filled a purse with merchandise she’d unboxed Saturday, left the store and then came back for more carrying a different purse. They said on her first foray she made no attempt to purchase any items and left the empty boxes on the store shelves, and the second time she did purchase some items but left “multiple other items not purchased or scanned underneath bas in her shopping cart.” Nearly $90 worth of merchandise was involved in the thefts, police said.

Came clean: A juvenile told police Friday he wanted to confess to stealing three ice cream treats from Pleasant Foods. Police gave him a ride to the store, where he spoke with the owner who declined to pursue charges. The juvenile paid for the items and left, but police warned him if he did it again he’d be charged.

Complaining: A Spring Avenue resident complained to police Saturday that his cousin, with whom he shares the residence, had taken a bookbag containing all of his identification documents and a pair of shoes, but admitted he hadn’t seen him do it. His cousin told police he didn’t take anything and his cousin has been accusing him of stealing his things “for a while now.” He told police he’d like his cousin removed from the property, but police told him he’d been living there for five years so if he wants him out, he’d have to go through the courts.

False alarm: Someone reported seeing two small children unsupervised and…tied to the fence with backpack leashes Saturday at the basketball court in Beatty Park. Police located the kids and their mother and report all was in order.

To tell the truth: A juvenile said she was walking to a friend’s house when a boy with an Orbeez gun shot her with it three times Friday and it left a welt. Police gave her a ride to the friend’s house, then circled back to speak with the boy and his mother who said the girl was throwing rocks at him so he responded by shooting Orbeez at her. His mother told police the girl and her friendscome buy their house taunting her son. Police told him not to shoot people with his gun who aren’t actively playing with him.

Noise makers: Someone complained about a roofing crew working in the 800 block of N. 4th Street was playing a radio loudly, but police said when they arrived the crew was working but no music was being played.

Why blame mom: A Lincoln Avenue resident said she was at Circle K Friday when a woman “started yelling at her over her son breaking into her house” a few months ago. Later, she said the woman kept driving by her house and yelling out the window.

Over: A couple in the 800 block of N. 6th Avenue were arguing over the male’s laptop Saturday but told police they’d settled the disagreement before they arrived.

Booked: Kelly Gensley, 58, 106 Locust St., Mingo Junction, warrant (Municipal Court) alleging felony theft; Cassidy Delong-Ruckman, 28, 103 Eleanor St., Mino Junction, bench warrant alleging failure to appear.

Charged: Lara M. Shultz, 32, 203 National Road, Toronto, theft.

Code issues: Notices of violation were sent to the owners/occupants of a property at 2305 Alexander Manor, high grass, household; and 553 Arden Ave., high grass.

Cited: Katherine Ann Shaub 50, 669 Wilson Ave., Mingo Junction, red light violation after a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of n. Hollywood and Sunset boulevards. No injuries reported.
