Veterans judge Dillonvale show
DILLONVALE -- Jefferson County Veterans Association members were honored to serve as judges at the motorcycle and car show at Dillonvale’s celebration of America’s 250th Anniversary on Saturday.
During the activities Mayor Michele Dulesky and Councilwoman Harlie Sims presented the Jefferson County Veterans Association a check for $1,100. The mayor thanked all veterans and active military for their service, dedication and sacrifice. The donation was increased by more than $300 from purchases received after the presentation.
The donation supports JCVA’s efforts to provide Memorial Day and Veterans Day programs, annual countywide free picnic for all veterans and active military, first responders, support of charitable efforts, maintenance of exhibits and park responsibilities
The Jefferson County Veterans Association thanks the mayor and her staff, and the residents of Dillonvale for their generosity and support.
JCVA invites everyone to Friendship Park in Smithfield to visit its Memorial Wall, Sheriff Fred Abdalla Sr. shelter and the Fort Friendship Park display of military equipment: F-89 Scorpion jet plane, newly renovated Vietnam observation plane, a tank, a Howitzer, Naval anti-aircraft guns, a cannon and more.
Visitors can Locate a veteran’s brick on the Memorial Wall that includes the names of 888 county veterans.
The organization meets at 1 p.m. the first Wednesday of each month in the sheriff’s shelter during the summer months. All veterans are welcome.
